Bulls Eyes and Cross Hairs on Arizona

Guest Writers and Submissions 1 Comment

In the wake of the Arizona shooting some in the liberal and conservative media seem to be throwing gasoline on the flames. You hear Democrats and Republicans blaming each other for the terrible acts of an out of control individuals that had views that were unacceptable to most people in either party.

You hear people blaming the Republicans and Sarah Palin for her Cross Hair Map.

During the 2010 elections, on her Facebook Account Sarah Palin had posted a Cross-hair map of states and candidates to beat in the elections. And the Democrats have been using Bulls-eye maps to target states and candidates to beat in the elections.

You hear people blaming the Democrats  for their Bulls Eye Maps.

The above map targeting Republicans was on the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) website.

This Bulls Eye Map appeared on the Democratic Leadership Committee website (dated 2004 during the Bush years).

You hear people blaming President Obama for his Speech such as those listed by Jim Hoft at Gateway Pundit in his short list of Obama’s “greatest hits”
** Obama: “They Bring a Knife…We Bring a Gun”
** Obama to His Followers: “Get in Their Faces!”
** Obama on ACORN Mobs: “I don’t want to quell anger. I think people are right to be angry! I’m angry!”
** Obama to His Mercenary Army: “Hit Back Twice As Hard”
** Obama on the private sector: “We talk to these folks… so I know whose ass to kick.“
** Obama to voters: Republican victory would mean “hand to hand combat”
** Obama to lib supporters: “It’s time to Fight for it.”
** Obama to Latino supporters: “Punish your enemies.”
** Obama to democrats: “I’m itching for a fight.”

As conservative or liberal kids there is only one map that we should honor and that map is the map of the United States. We cannot fall victim to the hatred being delivered by any politician, newscaster, columnist or blogger. As kids we must be able to recognize that there will always be hatred in one form or another. As kids we must be aware of what is going on around us but we must also understand that this tragic shooting in Arizona was not the fault of Sarah Palin, Barack Obama, the Democrats, Republicans, Conservatives or Liberals. This shooting was a violent act committed by one lunatic shooter a 22 year old whose name I will not even mention for he has already gotten too much press.

May God Bless America and tone down the Rhetoric.

Christina Taylor Green 9-Year-Old Arizona Shooting Victim

Guest Writers and Submissions 1 Comment

Christina Taylor Green 9/11/2001 - 1/8/2011

Saturday January 8, 2011 was a terrible day for Tucson, Arizona and all of America. On this day a gunman shot Representative Gabrielle Giffords and 20 other people. Six died including a 9 year old child Christina Taylor Green an American kid with dreams and a promising future.

Christina Green was born on another tragic day September 11, 2001. She was born when her family was living in West Grove, Pennsylvania,  and was one of the 50 “Faces of Hope” representing babies from 50 states who were born on 9/11. Their images were printed in a book and the proceeds of this book were used to raise money for a 9/11 charity.

Christina’s mother Roxanna Green said about Christina, “From the very beginning, she was an amazing child,” “She was very bright, very mature, off the charts. She was the brightest thing that happened that day.” (9-11).

Christina was on the student council at her elementary school. On this day she attended the rally of Representative Giffords the local congresswoman as a means of seeing government in action. She was a kid that was learning about politics, a very good speaker and perhaps one of our many hopes among American kids that could be a future politician.

Christina was an A student who loved animals and wanted to be a veterinarian. She volunteered at a children’s charity. Her mother said, “She belonged to Kids Helping Kids charity and tried to help children less fortunate.”

Christina’s mother said, “She was an athlete, a good dancer, a good gymnast, a good swimmer,”  Christina loved baseball and was on her Little League team. Her father John Green, is a supervising scout for the Los Angeles Dodgers baseball team. Her grandfather, Dallas Green, had been a manager for the Yankees and Mets and managed the Philadelphia Phillies to the 1980.

Her mother said on Fox News, “I’m so proud of her. I’m still proud of her today. I know that she’s going to do great things in heaven. She’s my angel.”

Christina will be missed among her friends, family and those of us that did not know her but now know more about her and what a great kid she was.

With sadness Kids Speak for America gives a big OoRah to Christina Green who served as an inspiration to so many kids and adults during her short but active life.

Is the Word Guns Graphic Violence?

Seth 8 Comments

A couple of days ago at school we had an assignment to write a biopoem. A Biopoem is a poem that describes a person in 11 lines. There is a specific formula to use when writing a bio poem. After submitting my poem the writing teacher refused it and said to me, “Your poem is all about guns and is borderline graphic violence and you have to get your mind off it.”

In my biopoem I had mentioned guns, bullets or ammo several times. The teacher had said she wanted our biopoem to tell about us so that is what I gave her. My dad and I like guns and I want to be a competition shooter and a Marine Scout Sniper.

One of the questions asked what I appreciate.  I replied that I appreciate electricity, guns, ammo and friends.

Another question asked what I wonder about and I answered that I wonder how bullets do so much damage when they hit big things even though they are small.

In another question I had replied that I believe in nukes if you have to use them, conservatism and guns.

To one of the questions I had replied I want to make it in politics and I want to make it to the Marines Scout Sniper unit.

And in one of the final questions I had answered that I love sports, guns and video games.

Okay, maybe I am into guns more than most but she asked and I answered. I appreciate guns for lots of reasons. You can target shoot and hunt with them and you should still have one for self protection.  Some people don’t like guns but does that give them the right to force their belief on others?

While this teacher may not like guns did this give her the right to refuse my poem and tell me that mentioning guns to the extent I did is borderline graphic violence?

My father explained to me that schools are hypersensitive about guns, weapons and violence because of school shootings like Thurston and Columbine.  Though I understand this I do not like it because some people just don’t understand guns. If a teacher does not want something listed on a biopoem they should tell you in advance or not ask the question to begin with.

Please leave me a comment as to what you think about that situation. Feel free to state whatever your belief is.
